Cistern
This sculpture was commissioned for a fund-raising event for Water.org, a U.S.-based nonprofit organization committed to providing safe drinking water and sanitation to people in developing countries. The sculpture became an eye-opening research project. The realities of how many people live without safe water - a substance that I receive freely and with little thought - was shocking and inspired the materials used in this piece. The clean blue/green water contrasts the rust, neglect, and ignorance that pollutes the effort.

I learned to use a MIG welder and plasma torch to produce this piece. The experience piqued my interest in metalwork and I have hopes of exploring the medium further in the future.
